Tri-Village softball team loses season opener at Bethel

BRANDT – The Tri-Village softball team lost its season opener on Tuesday, falling 10-3 to Cross County Conference foe Bethel.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, Tri-Village took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Bethel tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and then scored two runs in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth. Tri-Village scored the game’s final run in the top of the seventh.

Bethel out-hit Tri-Village nine to seven. Both teams made two errors.

Breanna Locke went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Tri-Village. Shelby Holzapfel was 1-for-3 with a triple and a RBI. Breeann Lipps went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Shelby Frech was 1-for-3 with a double. Peyton Bietry and Kloey Murphey both were 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Locke was charged with the loss as she pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs and one unearned run on four hits, four walks, one hit batter and one strikeout. Taylor Bowles pitched two innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits, two walks and one strikeout.

Tri-Village will play at Covington on Thursday.
