Tri-Village baseball team wins CCC opener vs. Miami East

NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village baseball team won its Cross County Conference opener on Tuesday, defeating Miami East 7-5.

Miami East took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first. After Tri-Village tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first and two in the fourth, Miami East regained the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. Tri-Village then scored three in the fifth and one in the sixth to win by two.

Tri-Village out-hit Miami East eight to four in the game. Both teams made four errors.

Jordan Buckley was the winning pitcher for Tri-Village as he pitched three scoreless innings in relief to improve to 1-0 on the season. Jonny Wilson pitched the first four innings and allowed five runs, only one of which was earned.

Trey Frech led the Tri-Village offense by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Wilson was 1-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases and a run scored.

Tri-Village improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the CCC with the win. The Patriots lost their first four games of the season during a trip to Florida.
