Ansonia baseball team run ruled by Covington

ANSONIA – Covington run ruled Ansonia 18-3 in five innings in a Cross County Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

Covington scored runs in each inning on Tuesday, plating seven in the first, two in the second, four in the third, one in the fourth and four in the fifth. Ansonia scored one run in the first inning and two in the fourth.

Ansonia had two hits and 10 errors on the day while Covington had 13 hits and two errors.

Dane Wentworth led the Ansonia offense by going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Lane Clark was 1-for-2, and Cody Burnfield scored a run.

Kane Kimmel was charged with the loss as he pitched three innings, allowing three earned runs and 10 unearned runs on seven hits, four walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts. Rygh Fortkamp pitched two innings in relief and allowed one earned run and four unearned runs on six hits, no walks and no strikeouts.

Ansonia fell to 1-6 overall 0-3 in the CCC with the loss.
