ROCKFORD – The Ansonia softball team beat the No. 3 team in the state on Monday, defeating Parkway 4-2.
Ansonia out-hit Parkway 12 to four in the game.
Shelby Hartzell earned the win for the Tigers, striking out 13 while allowing just four hits and no walks.
Monica Walters led the Ansonia offense by going 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run. Hartzell, Trinity Henderson and Monica Stover each collected two hits. Katelynn Overholser had a hit and a RBI.
