GREENVILLE – Six errors led to a 5-3 loss to Wayne for the Greenville baseball team on Wednesday.
Wayne scored first with a run in the top half of the first inning before Greenville took a 2-1 lead in the second. Wayne tied the game at 2-2 in the third and took a 5-2 lead in the fifth before Greenville scored the game’s final run in the bottom of the sixth.
Greenville out-hit Wayne eight to five in Wednesday’s game, but the Wave committed six errors while the Warriors made none.
Logan Eldridge went 4-for-4 with a double for Greenville and scored a run. Brayden York was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Brandon Beyke was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.
Peter Pandey went 1-for-2 with a walk. Landon Eldridge went 1-for-4. Jason Shields walked once, scored a run and drove in a run.
Kyle Mills was charged with the loss as he went 5 1/3 innings, allowing five unearned runs on five hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Tanner Ross pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing no hits or walks.
Greenville fell to 10-13 with the loss while Wayne improved to 10-13.
