Street project begins in Ansonia

ANSONIA — The Village of Ansonia is announcing a street improvement project to take place on East Canal Street (State Route 47) from Main Street (State Route 118) to the east corporation limits.

This road closure will be in effect from Tuesday, May 10 through approximately Aug. 31.

In order to complete the work, a detour for all traffic (other than local) will be required for State Route 47 (East Canal Street). The State Highway detour will be:

From the west: Proceed north on State Route 118; to east on State Route 705; to south on U.S. Route 127; and then continue west on State Route 47.

From the east: Proceed north on US Route 127; to west on State Route 705; to south on State Route 118; and then continue east on State Route 47.

To access the Ansonia Local School campus, all school traffic shall utilize East Cross Street coming from the east at Main Street.

Brumbaugh Construction will be doing the contract work for street reconstruction including curb and gutter (along East Canal from Main Street to Tiger Way) and new water lines and infrastructure as well as most of the sidewalk along the south side of East Canal.

Double Jay Construction from Englewood was awarded a separate ODOT contract for the Safe Routes to School funded portion of the work for sidewalk on the north side of the street.
