Greenville baseball team run ruled by Northmont

DAYTON – Northmont run ruled the Greenville baseball team 20-9 in six innings on Friday at Fifth Third Field in Dayton.

After Northmont took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, Greenville went ahead 7-3 in the second. Northmont reduced Greenville’s lead to 7-5 in the third, regained the lead 8-7 in the fourth and extended its lead to 13-7 in the fifth. After Greenville scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Northmont scored seven more in the bottom half of the inning.

Greenville had 11 hits and six errors on Friday while Northmont had eight hits and three errors.

Tanner Ross went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs for Greenville. Jacob Hounshell was 2-for-4 with stolen base, a RBI and a run. Jason Shields was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Grant Minnich was 1-for-3 with a double, a RBI and a run.

Brayden York went 1-for-1 with two walks, a RBI and a run. Brandon Beyke was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and two runs. Kyle Mills went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, a run and a RBI. Landon Eldridge was 1-for-4, stole a base and drove in a run.

AJ Bowers pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs and three unearned runs on one hit, two walks, two hit batters and one strikeout. Tyler Netzley pitched two innings and allowed six earned runs and two unearned runs on six hits, four walks and one strikeout. Chris Force pitched an inning and allowed two earned runs and five unearned runs on no hits, five walks and one hit batter. Aaron Rich allowed no runs on one hit and one walk.
