Chapter attends convention

UNION CITY, Ohio — The National Trail-MVCTC FFA Chapter traveled to Columbus May 5 and 6 for the 88th Ohio FFA Convention. The chapter had a strong showing representing the school district and satellite school with the awards received.

Three of the chapter members were recognized for achieving the highest degree awarded by the Ohio FFA Association. To be recognized for this degree, members have to compile a state degree application and are scored on their supervised agriculture experiences (SAE’s), school and FFA activities, grades and community service. Members who received the degree were Alexus Acton, Trey Mann and Chloe Studebaker.

Also receiving award recognition were three officers from the chapter. These three put in a lot of hours and dedication to their officer books Those receiving a gold rating were Reporter Kerstian Casteel, Treasurer Weston Haws and Secretary Dawn Richardson.

While at the convention, members Marissa Hawkins, Kayla Pease and Cierra Rinehart comp;eted in the state agriscience fair for the first time. Hawkins and Pease both were awarded with honorable mention for their respective “Hearing Safety” experiments, and Rinehart won third place with her “Which Cooking Oil Makes The Best Biofuel” experiment.

Tabitha Shepherd participated as part of the Ohio FFA Choir.
