A very successful Arcanum Old Fashioned Days was held this year from May 20-22. The weather improved over the weekend and provided entertainment throughout. A variety of music genres were provided at the festival. Friday began with Harmony providing some old classics in four-part harmony, followed by Kings Landing which provided some southern “country-rock.” Saturday featured Arcanum-resident Todd Westfall singing some country favorites. Winchester Gray then provided more of a modern folk, Americana-type music. The evening closed out with Vanguard singing rock music. Sunday, Sawmill Ridge sang some family-friendly, hand-clapping bluegrass music to close out the musical portion of Old Fashioned Days.

This year also featured the return of Chainsaw Sculptor, Dayle Lewis, sponsored by T&C Motorsports. You can still see one of his creations at the Arcanum Public Library, in the Guardian he carved that is just outside the door. There was also the numerous craft vendors present, expanded to include an additional tent. Various choices of food were also available, with all vendors local to the area.

The highlight this year had to be the All-American Lumberjack Show out of Minnesota that presented five total shows over Saturday and Sunday. Every show had full bleachers and many people standing to watch. The show pitted two lumberjacks competing against each other in various events, as well as including some of the audience members in the competition. They even stayed around after each show to sign autographs for the kids and talk with the viewing public. The show was made possible by the incredible support of many area businesses including: Greenville National Bank, America’s Decorative Concrete, Creme de la Creme Cakery, Belle Fiole Tanning & Spa, Sutton’s, Second National Bank, Orme Hardware, Village Flower Shop, Garbig & Schmidt Attorneys-at-Law, Troutwine Auto Sales, Blue Spruce Realty, Arcanum Store & Lock, Rismiller Concessions, Lyle Bixler Realty, E & R Supply, LLC, Roberts Insurance Agency, Miller’s Tavern, Sink Jewelers, Wagner Paving, The Hair Hut, The Rose Post, Chuck’s Foods & Concessions, RJ Warner Insurance, Troutwine Insurance Agency, Modern Impressions, Brumbaugh Fruit Farm, Flaig Lumber, Martin’s Concessions, C.A. “If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance.” ~Bern Williams
