Partin, Pierce pageant winners at Ansonia fireworks

ANSONIA — Zoie Partin, 3-year-old daughter of Josh and Jennie Parton, and 4-year-old Cooper Pierce, son of Heather Brown and Robert Pierce were named Little Miss and Mr. Red, White and Blue Friday night at the Ansonia Fourth of July festivities.

They were among 11 girls and two boys who competed in the competition, coordinated by Kami Shinn.

The other boy competing was Kenton Turner, son of Dan and Beth Turner, and the other girls were Katheryn Gibson, daughter of Daniel and Stacy Gibson; Josi Weiss, daughter of Jason and Kori Weese; Avery Meadows, daughter of Cory Meadows and Taylor Vorhees; Emily Creager, daughter of Dan and Pam Creager; Claire Eubank, daughter of Chuck and Stacie Eubank; twins Avery and Ashley , daughters of Nathan and Sarah Smith; Delayne Price, daughter of Ron Price and Julie Warner-Price; and DD Ramsey, daughter of Jackie Smith.

Kathy Cline once again emceed the pageant, and judges were Jody Bennett and Marlene Troutwine.

This was one of just the many activities held in Ansonia since Friday on Fourth of July weekend.

The parade was held Saturday and featured many units, including parade marshals Kenny and Marilyn Erwin; a couple of veterans units and honor guards; several floats; police, rescue and fire units, the latter representing several areas in the community; farm equipment; and a horse and carriage.

There were softball, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments featured throughout the weekend, and entertainment included Karma’s Pawn and Strategy; and the 5K Firecracker Run.
