Versailles girls golf team finishes as runner up in home invitational


VERSAILLES – The Versailles girls golf team finished as the runner up as the Lady Tigers hosted their Lady Tiger Tee invitational on Thursday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.

Alter won the 14 team tournament with a 374, defeating host Versailles by nine strokes. Fort Loramie finished third with a 395, St. Henry was fourth with a 406, Bellefontaine finished fifth with a 415, Arcanum placed sixth with a 440, Tippecanoe was seventh with a 448, Covington finished eighth with a 456, Miami East and New Bremen tied for ninth with a 476, Troy was 11th with a 500, Tri-Village placed 12th with a 502, and Russia finished 13th with a 524. National Trail didn’t have enough golfers to record a team score.

Lauren Heitkamp and Lauren Durham led Versailles as they both shot an 89 for the 18 hole round. Also for the Lady Tigers, Jorja Pothast shot a 99, Morgan Barlage shot a 106, Anna Groff shot a 108, and Morgan Heitkamp shot a 116.

Lexi Unger led Arcanum with a round of 105. Also for the Lady Trojans, Madi O’Daniel shot a 106, Brenna Loxley shot a 111, Chesi Hackworth shot a 118, Madison Mankin shot a 154, and Alex Less shot a 155.

Emma Campbell led Tri-Village with a 107. Also for the Lady Patriots, Andi Bietry shot a 123, Julia Mellott shot a 129, Lauren Flory shot a 143, Becky O’Connor shot a 145, and Jazmine Hileman shot a 145.

Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff was the tournament medalist with an 18 hole round of 78. National Trail’s Makenna Jones finished second with an 85, Alter’s Claire Nikolai finished third with an 86, and Versailles’ Durham and Heitkamp tied for fourth with their 89s.
