3 MAC football teams, 1 GWOC team make OHSAA state semifinals

COLUMBUS – As the Ohio High School Athletic Association football playoffs reach the state semifinals one team from the Greater Western Ohio Conference and three from the Midwest Athletic Conference remain.

The GWOC had two teams lose in this past weekend’s state semifinals while the MAC had one team lose as Minster knocked off fellow MAC member Fort Recovery. So far this postseason the MAC is 10-0 against non-MAC competition.

The GWOC’s last team standing, Trotwood-Madison, beat St. Marys 34-27 in the Division III Region 12 championship game. Trotwood-Madison now advances to play Toledo Central Catholic in the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lima Spartan Stadium.

Coldwater from the MAC beat Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 35-21 in the Division V Region 20 championship game. Coldwater now advances to play Coshocton at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Center Olentangy Braves Stadium.

Marion Local from the MAC beat Mechanicsburg 26-15 in the Division VI Region 24 championship game. Marion Local now advances to play Hamler Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lima Spartan Stadium.

Minster beat fellow MAC member Fort Recovery 35-33 in the Division VII Region 28 championship game. Minster now advances to play McComb in the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at Wapakoneta Harmon Field.

Wayne from the GWOC lost 17-14 to Pickerington Central in the Division I Region 3 championship game.

Miamisburg from the GWOC lost 45-14 to LaSalle in the Division II Region 8 championship game.
