NEW MADISON – For a second consecutive day the Tri-Village baseball team pulled out a comeback win, this time defeating Covington 4-3 on Tuesday.
Tri-Village took an early lead with one run in the first inning and one in the third. Covington tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning and took a 3-2 lead with one run in the fifth. Tri-Village then tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and scored the game-winning run in the seventh.
Luke Wheeler singled with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to score Jonny Wilson and tie the game.
Then in the seventh Cameron Munchel led off with a single, Gage Hileman reached on an error, and Wilson hit a two-out single into left-center to drive in Munchel for the winning run.
Tri-Village out-hit Covington eight to six in Tuesday’s game. Both teams committed two errors.
Ricker went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for Tri-Village. Wilson was 2-for-3 with a RBI.
Wilson also earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year, pitching the complete game and allowing just one earned run while striking out eight.
Tri-Village improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Cross County Conference with the win.
