TROY – The Bradford baseball team edged Troy Christian 8-7 on Saturday.
Bradford scored one run in the second inning and two in the third while Troy Christian scored two in the second and one in the third, leaving the score tied at 3-3 through three innings.
After Bradford took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth, Troy Christian went up 6-4 in the bottom half of the frame. Bradford tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the fifth.
Troy Christian gained the lead once again with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Bradford scored two runs in the top of the sixth to win 8-7.
Bradford has 11 hits and two errors while Troy Christian had seven hits and no errors.
Josh Phillips went 2-for-2 with a triple and a RBI. Parker Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and two RBI. Bryant Byers was 2-for-3 with a walk, three stolen bases, three runs and a RBI. Alex Swabb was 1-for-1 with a double, a walk, four stolen bases and two runs.
Jeff Wolf was 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run. Walker Branson was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run. Mason Justice was 1-for-4 with a walk, three stolen bases and a RBI. Wade Gerlach was 1-for-5 with a run. Bryson Canan walked twice, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Noah Hamilton drove in a run.
Justice earned the win by pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit, two walks and six strikeouts. Phillips pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits, three walks and two strikeouts.
