CELINA, Ohio — Mercer County attorney Travis Faber formally announced Saturday his intention to run in the Republican primary to represent the 84th House District in the General Assembly.

Faber, a Republican and the nephew of the current State Representative Keith Faber (R-Celina) — who himself has announced he is running for State of Ohio’s Auditor position in 2018 — said he made the decision to jump into the race after being approached by numerous local business owners, farmers, and community leaders who encouraged him to run for the position.

“I’m humbled to have the support of so many people in our community who know that I have the experience and knowledge to be a strong voice for conservative values,” Faber said. “The fact is that we’ve been represented by some of the best legislators in our state’s history and we need someone with the same dedication, values and work ethic to represent us in Columbus.”

Rep. Keith Faber, previously served in the Ohio Senate from 2007 to 2013, and as Ohio Senate President from 2013 to 2017, before being elected as Ohio’s 84th House District Representative in 2016. He also served as 84th District Representative from 2001 to 2007. He said he is proudly endorsing and supporting his nephew in his candidacy.

“I know he shares our values and will work tirelessly to serve the people of West Central Ohio,” he said. “Working with me in the law firm for the last six years, I know Travis is an excellent attorney and has served our clients well. I fully expect the same when he is my representative.”

He added, “I encourage everyone to join me in supporting Travis Faber for state representative.”

Travis Faber said his priorities will be to fight for jobs, reduce burdensome taxes and regulations, and to protect life, farmers, and our Second Amendment rights.

“First and foremost, I’m a conservative. That means I know that lower taxes and fewer job killing regulations will lead to job growth in our community and our state,” he said. “I also believe that our government can and should do more to protect the God-given rights of the unborn, and as a hunter and competition shooter, I will be a strong voice for the Second Amendment.”

Faber currently practices law in Celina, where he manages Faber & Associates. He focuses his practice on complex civil litigation and business law.

“I became an attorney because I wanted to be a positive influence in people’s lives. I’ve done that by supporting our community’s farmers, businesses and families. As someone who grew up in a small business household, I’ve been proud to devote my practice to helping our community’s job creators grow and thrive,” said Faber.

Ohio’s 84th House District is made up of Mercer County and parts of Auglaize, Darke, and Shelby Counties. The primary election will be May 8, 2018. For more information or to speak with him, you may call 419-516-0771 or visit his website, TravisFaber.org.
