Ansonia volleyball loses at Houston, Union City

ANSONIA – Ansonia began the 2017 volleyball season with losses at Houston and Union City, Indiana.

Ansonia’s season began on Monday with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 loss at Houston.

Aliya Barga led Ansonia against Houston with six kills, Bailey Stammen had four, and Ryleigh Cloyd and Emily Gariety both added three. Barga also led the Tigers with eight blocks while Stammen added two.

Stammen had a team-high 10 assists. Trinity Henderson had 14 digs for Ansonia while Alyssa Armock and Stammen both had eight. Gariety had a team-high three aces, and Barga added two.

On Tuesday Ansonia lost in five sets at Union City, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25, 25-21, 17-15.

Barga led Ansonia with nine blocks and six assists against Union City. Henderson had a team-high 14 digs, Stammen had 10 assists, and Gariety had three aces.
