GREENVILLE – A driver was flown by CareFlight Sunday morning after being critically injured in an accident.
At approximately 9 a.m. Sunday, emergency personnel from Greenville City Fire Department, Greenville Township Rescue and CareFlight as well as officers from the Greenville City Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Sherman Street and Fort Jefferson Avenue in reference to an injury accident with one patient unconscious.
Arriving units found that a green Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Sherman Street when it failed to yield to oncoming traffic, pulling into the pathway of a silver Honda Pilot that was traveling northbound on Fort Jefferson Avenue, causing a head-on collision.
The male driver, and sole occupant of the Toyota, was treated on the scene by Greenville Township Rescue and transported to the landing zone located at the Darke County Sheriff’s Office to meet CareFlight before being flown to Miami Valley Hospital for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
The female driver of the Honda was uninjured in the accident and refused treatment by EMS.
The accident remains under investigation by the Greenville City Police Department.
