Teen driver injured in accident near Arcanum

ARCANUM – A teen driver was injured Sunday afternoon in an accident outside of Arcanum.

At approximately 5 p.m. Sunday, emergency personnel from New Madison Fire Department, Arcanum Rescue and deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the intersection of Jaysville St. John and Hollansburg-Arcanum roads in regards to an injury accident.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Department, a maroon Chevy Corvette was traveling southbound on Jaysville St. John Road when it failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of a westbound black Honda Pilot, causing a T-bone collision. The Honda continued off the left side of the roadway, coming to rest over top of a Vectren gas line after hitting a utility pole.

The teenage male driver of the Chevy, and sole occupant, was treated on the scene by Arcanum Rescue before being transported to Wayne HealthCare for minor injuries. The female driver of the Honda, who was also the lone occupant, was examined on the scene by EMS but refused transport.

The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Department.
