Arcanum News: Boosters’ Quarter Auction to be held this Sunday

The Arcanum A# Sharp Music Boosters invite you to their inaugural Quarter Auction and Luncheon to be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 in the school cafetorium. Lunch starts at 1 p.m. and the auction will commence at 2 p.m. If you’ve never been to a quarter auction, now is your chance to experience the fun! Come out and support the band students while snagging some cool items, just in time for the holidays! There will also be a separate raffle for some extraordinary gift packages including Reds tickets, Great Escape Room, and an Apple Watch! The list keeps growing!

President Brandy Rhodehamel and the Boosters look forward to your seeing you there as they begin their quest to send the High School Band to Disney in the fall of 2019. The Boosters also note that this list of donors continues to grow and that a complete list will be displayed at the event.

Congrats to the 2018 Arcanum-Butler Middle School Spelling Bee winners; the top 3 were: 1st Place William Chadwick, 2nd Place Hannah Kendig, and 3rd Place Addy Cass. The winning word was pastrami.

The sixth annual Arcanum Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at Arcanum High School. This event is free and open to all senior citizens of the Arcanum community. The event will take place at the Arcanum-Butler Local Schools Cafetorium. Guests will be provided a delicious lunch and entertainment from Arcanum-Butler students. If you plan on attending please RSVP to High School Secretary Mrs. Hollinger at 692-5174 Ext. 1337 by Dec. 3. Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Arcanum-Butler Schools will be open to the public for adult walking Monday through Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m., Nov. 26 through March 28, 2019. Walking will be restricted to the first floor tiled hallways.

The Village of Arcanum is decorating Ivester Park with Christmas lights for the upcoming Christmas Season. They are looking for volunteers who would like to help decorate a section of the park in memory of a loved one. They are also looking for local service groups or businesses to help with decorating a section of the park as well. They are also in desperate need of extension cords; if you would like to donate extension cords for the event or if you would like to decorate a section of the park please contact Bill Kessler at the Arcanum Village office at 937-692-8500.

The Arcanum Business Association is also accepting donations for Christmas lights. If you would like to donate lights to be used for the Christmas light display you can drop off at the Village of Arcanum office at 1 Pop Rite Drive. If would like to give a monetary donation please write your check to the Arcanum Business Association and mail to: 24 W. George St., Arcanum, OH 45304. There are also donation boxes located at the following businesses in Arcanum: Belle Fiole Tanning, Miller’s Tavern, Greenville National Bank, Fourman Variety Store, Village of Arcanum office and Orme Hardware.

A Night in Bethlehem – Experience the sights, sounds, and excitement of the very first Christmas with your whole family at this free, interactive Christmas experience at Eaton First Church of God, Dec. 7, 8 and 9 nightly at 7 p.m. Eaton FCOG is located at 601 Lexington Road East, Eaton. Visit shopkeepers in the marketplace, see exotic animals, meet characters from the Christmas story, create special keepsake crafts, enjoy delicious treats, and end the night with a live nativity and candlelight worship. Please note: Some stations are outside, so dress accordingly. You might want to guarantee a seat at the closing musical celebration, so make sure you reserve free tickets ahead of time. Once tickets are sold out, they will try to find a seat for you, but performances may be standing room only. If you reserve tickets and end up unable to use them, please cancel your order through Eventbrite to return them so we can give them to others.

Immanuel Baptist Church, 500 W. South St. will be hosting several special Christmas events this season. On Sunday, Dec. 9 the Children’s Department will present in the Morning Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. a special program entitled “The Little Drummer Boy in All of Us.” The Children’s Bell Choir will make their inaugural debut in this program. On, Sunday, Dec. 16, the evening service at 6 p.m. will be a Musical program with members of the congregations from all ages presenting their talents followed by a carry-in dinner. On Sunday, Dec. 23 the adult Choir will present a Christmas Cantata in the morning Worship service at 10:30 a.m. The community is welcomed to join them at IBC.
