GREENVILLE – A tractor trailer fire early Sunday evening has authorities investigating its questionable nature and cause.
At approximately 8:54 p.m., emergency personnel from Greenville City Fire Department along with officers from the Greenville City Police Department were dispatched to the area behind 102 Vine St. in regards to the reports of a tractor trailer on fire. Arriving crews found a trailer at the rear of the property with flames and smoke showing.
The property, which is owned and operated as a private feed mill, has seen its share of vandalism over the years. According to Lowell Garber, associated with the mill, vandals have tagged the area with graffiti in the past as well as used the property as a dumping ground for items such as furniture and other large items.
Garber also said the trailer in question recently was loaded down with old tires that the mill previously had stored outside on the property but had moved in efforts cleaned up the land.
Authorities on the scene said it is too early in the investigation to rule on a cause of the fire but think the fire is questionable in nature.
The incident will remain under investigation by the Greenville City Fire Department.
