
DARKE COUNTY — A Yorkshire man was hospitalized following a single-vehicle accident which occurred Saturday.
On Dec. 5 at approximately 3:16 p.m., Darke County Sheriff’s Office deputies along with Ansonia Rescue and the Ansonia Fire Department responded to the intersection U.S. Rt. 127 and St. Rt. 47 on a reported single injury vehicle accident.
Preliminary investigation into the accident revealed a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by William Edward Swallow, 85, of Yorkshire, Ohio, was traveling north on U.S. 127 when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and into a ditch, striking a utility pole.
Swallow was treated at the scene by Ansonia Rescue personnel and was then transported to Wayne HealthCare. It is believed the driver suffered from a medical event causing him to travel off the roadway.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
