VERSAILLES – The Versailles Tigers double up on the visiting Franklin Monroe Jets 62-31 in a non-conference matchup.
Jaydon Litten lit up the Versailles first quarter nets with 11 points coming by way of three 3-pointers and 2-2 at the charity stripe to lead the Tigers to a 26-4 advantage after one period of play.
“We stuck with the pressure here tonight,” Versailles coach Travis Swank said of the team’s first half defensive pressure. “It seemed to work for us.”
Versailles sophomore Connor Stonebraker paced the Tigers with two treys in second quarter play in leading the home team to a 17-11 second quarter sending the teams to the break with Versailles owning a 43-15 advantage.
“We have to have some guys step up and take outside shots,” Swank stated. “Jaydon Litten is capable of doing that. Connor stonebreaker came out and hit a couple threes from deep as well.”
Franklin Monroe battled back to take period No. 3 by a 13-11 score with Jayce Byers accounting for 5 points and Gabe Sargeant adding 4 points to the Jets board for a Tigers 54-28 lead with three quarters in the book.
Versailles took the final eight minutes of the night 8-3 with FM’s points coming at the free throw line.
“I don’t know if they were ready for our pressure because we had not shown it a lot this year,” said Coach Swank. “Maybe that is a thing we need to do a little bit more to get this team going the right way.”
Stonebraker led Versailles and all scorers with a game high 17 points in the Tigers win.
