GREENVILLE — The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon to discuss fund transfers, recycling and county school resource officers. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall, and Larry Holmes were all present.

The board approved Resolution (R-154-2021), to transfer $30,000 from the general fund to the annual court research and computerization fund. This is the first of three annual $30,000 fund transfers that will go toward updating the Darke County Common Pleas Court research and computer system. The court will receive $90,000 total by 2024 for its planned updates.

Next, the board approved an Addendum to Contract between Darke County Solid Waste and Rumpke of Ohio. The addendum ensures Rumpke will provide a second recycling bin to Butler Township. A second bin is needed due to the large amount of service the first bin receives.

The board approved a School Resource Officer Agreement between the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Monroe School District, Tri-Village School District and Mississinawa Valley School District. In the agreement the Sheriff agreed to maintain a regularly scheduled school resource officer assigned to each district.

All three school districts listed agreed to pay $28,421.79 for the 2021-22 school year from Aug. 31 to Dec. 31 to the Sheriff’s Office. This sum will be billed in halves in the amount of $14210.89.

The school districts additionally agreed to pay the Sheriff’s Office $37,084.92 for the 2022 portion of the 2021-22 school year from Jan. 1 through the last day of school in June. This sum will also be paid in halves in the amount of $18,542.46. The school resource officer will provide 40 hours of service to all three county schools per week while school is in session.

The Darke County Board of Commissioners meets every Monday and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at their office located at 520 S. Broadway Street in Greenville. To contact the board, call 937-547-7370.
