Versailles shows out at home cross country meet

VERSAILLES — The 21st annual Versailles Tour De Sewer Cross Country Invitational took place on Sept. 24. Around 20 schools competed in both the junior high and high school divisions.

The high school girls started things off. From Versailles, Meredith Barga finished third in the event with a time of 19:45.7. Versailles had five other runners finish in the top 25. Close behind her was Mississinawa Valley’s Taylee Woodbury, finishing in fifth with a time of 20:47.4. Finishing in sixth was Greenville’s Tessa Fine with a time of 20:53.3.

Finishing just outside the top 10 was Arianne Garrison from Arcanum. She finished 13th with a time of 21:30.9. Olivia Creager from Ansonia finished 32nd with a time of 22:42.8. Megan Wood from Bradford finished 56th with a time of 24:14.4.

For the team standings, Versailles finished third. Greenville finished fifth and Arcanum finished eighth. Bradford ended up in 11th.

The high school boys followed after. Ansonia’s Matthew Lee finished in 11th place with a time of 17:22.9. Trey Rammel from Greenville finished 16th with a time of 17:48.5. Two Versailles runners finished back to back at 19th and 20th. Jace Watren finished with a time of 17:53.9 while Drew Meyer finished with a time of 17:55.7. Owen Canan from Bradford finished 27th with a time of 18:05.1. Placing 32nd was Jacob Rice from Arcanum with a time of 18:13.5. For the Blackhawks, Daniel Hartzell finished 97th with a time of 20:20.2.

For the team standings, Versailles finished third, again. Greenville finished sixth and Arcanum finished seventh. Ansonia finished 12th and Bradford finished 13th.

The junior high runner started the second half of the invitational. For the girls, Corynn Goubeaux finished first with a time of 12:34.8. The Lady Tigers had three other runners finish in the top 10. Ava Rismiller finished fifth with a time of 13:14.8, Lillian Selhorst finished sixth with a time of 13:22.3 and Claire Simon finished eighth with a time of 13:37.

The Lady Wave had Clair Rammel finish ninth in the event with a time of 13:43.7. Bradford had two runner finish in the top 15. Savannah Beachler finished 11th with a time of 13:48.8. Natalie Wood finished 15th with a time of 14:02.3.

Ella Warren from Arcanum finished 21st with a time of 14:16. Tenlee Woodbury from Mississinawa Valley finished 37th with a time of 14:54.7. For Ansonia, Charlotte Barga finished 61st with a time of 16:19.

Versailles junior high girls took home first place as a team. Greenville finished sixth and Arcanum finished eighth.

The junior high boys finished out the invitational.

Ben Pitsenbarger from Versailles finished third in the event with a time of 11:35.8. The Tigers had two other runner finish in the top 10. Jackson Spitzer finished fifth with a time of 11:38.4. Anthony Spitzer finished eighth with a time of 11:53.4.

Dash Thacker from Arcanum finished fourth with a time of 11:36.2. For Greenville, Hayden Burns finished 14th with a time of 12:07.2. Bradford’s Kyree Roberts finished 54th with a time of 14:08.4. For Ansonia, Kevin Johnson finished 98th with a time of 17:35.9.

Just like the junior high girls, the junior high boys from Versailles took first place. Greenville finished in fourth.

Most of these teams will meet again on Sept. 27 at the 19th annual Patriot Cross Country Invitational at Tri-Village High School.
