Local schools show out at State powerlifting meet

KENTON — The Ohio High School State Powerlifting Meet took place for Division V-VII on March 18 at Kenton High School for boys and girls. Ansonia, Bradford and Tri-Village all competed at the event.

For the girls division, Bradford took second with a total of 5,265 lbs. Tri-Village finished sixth with a total of 4,310 lbs.

For Bradford, Shay Swick took first in the 115 weight class lifting a total of 630 lbs. Alanie Canan finished third in the 125 weight class lifting a total of 655 lbs. Izzy Boyer also finished third in the 135 weight class with a total of 660 lbs. Alexis Clark took third in the 145 weight class lifting a total of 685 lbs. Emma Smith took fifth in the 175 weight class lifting a total of 605 lbs. Sarah Bechstedt also finished fifth in the 195 weight class with a total of 725 lbs.

For Tri-Village, Macy Howell took fourth in the 155 weight class with a total of 640 lbs. Kaylee Richardson finished third in the 175 weight class lifting a total of 665 lbs. In the unlimited weight class, Loryn Metzcar took second lifting a total of 935 lbs.

Alyssa Schmitmeyer from Ansonia finished sixth in the 155 weight class lifting a total of 635 lbs.

For the boys division, Tri-Village finished eighth with a total of 9,620 lbs. and Bradford finished ninth with a total of 9,560 lbs. Ansonia took 12th with a total of 7,845.

For the Patriots, Shaun Crawford took ninth in the 145 weight class lifting a total of 805 lbs. Christian Cantrell finished 13th in the 250 weight class with a total of 1,040 lbs. Seth Jesse took 20th in the unlimited weight class lifting a total of 1,015 lbs.

For Bradford, Brick Burgett took third in the 125 weight class lifting a total of 730 lbs. Ben Kitts took fourth in the 145 weight class lifting a total of 960 lbs. Garrett Trevino finished first in the 155 weight class with a total of 1,245 lbs.

For Ansonia, Isaac MacNutt took ninth in the 135 weight class lifting a total of 715 lbs. Devin Geyer took ninth in the 210 weight class with a total of 1,025 lbs. In the unlimited weight class, Nathan Graf took 14th lifting a total of 1,145 lbs.
