Millers celebrate 60th anniversary

GETTYSBURG — Merlin and Maxine Miller, of Gettysburg, want to honor their achievement of 60 years of (mostly) wedded bliss! They will celebrate their accomplishment of many, many, many years together on Saturday, June 17. These dear people, who have graced a great number of friends, associates, family members, and youth with their warmth, caring, hospitality, and fun senses of humor, were united in holy matrimony June 16, 1963, by pastor John Hurst at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. That occasion, at which they impishly served M&Ms (their initials) during the reception in the church fellowship hall, marked the beginning of a fruitful union that has deepened through success and struggles, raising kids and raising a ruckus, and their cultivation of gardens, dreams, friendships, and faith.

God blessed them with children- Stacy Vanhorn, married to Mike; Eric Miller and Heather Hulwick; Kelly Williams, joined in marriage to Rod; and Angela Miller, wed to Paul. Among Maxine and Merlin’s many blessings are their grandchildren- Jessica Roof (wife of Eric), Logan Williams, Matthew Williams, Paige Williams, Emily Stucke (wife of Alex), and Noah Vanhorn. Much to the anniversary couple’s delight, they have increased their treasure of family relationships by the addition of great-grandchildren- Miler Roof (Guess who inspired his first name?), Ruby Roof, Nora Stucke, and Henry Stucke.

Merlin and Maxine are announcing their happy day, which marks the crowning achievement of their love for each other!
