DARKE COUNTY — The Ansonia, Arcanum and Franklin Monroe swim teams competed in the Troy Christian Meet on Jan. 26 and the St. Henry Mini Invitational on Jan. 27.
For Ansonia girls, they finished eighth in the Troy Christian Meet. Makayla Stachler finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.69 and second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.78. Kaitlyn Tollefson took fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7:16.58 and 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:42.56. The girls took ninth in the St. Henry Invitational. Stachler took fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:05.79 and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:14.69. Tollefson took 15th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.62 and 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:40.55.
For the Ansonia boys, Gavin Stachler took ninth overall in the Troy Christian Meet in the team standings. He took first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.17 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.09. In the St. Henry Invitational, Stachler finished ninth overall for Ansonia in the team standings. He took first once again in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:19.76 and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.09.
For the Arcanum boys, they took 10th in the Troy Christian Meet. Titus Palmer took 10th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.71, a personal best. He also took fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:39.51. He then took 13th in the St. Henry Invitational in the team standings. Palmer took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:25.90 and second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:33.21, a personal best.
For the Franklin Monroe girls, Chelsie Eyler took ninth overall in the team standings. She placed 11th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.51 and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:27.13, a new school record. Eyler then took 13th in the St. Henry Invitational. She took eighth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:57.19, a new school record. She then took eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:27.45.
Versailles also competed in the St. Henry Invitational. They took first overall in the combined team scores. The girls finished first and the boys finished second.
In the relay events, the girls 200-yard medley relay took first with a time of 1:59.12 and the boys 200-yard medley relay took third with a time of 2:00.36. The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team took first with a time of 1:53.94 and the boys 200-yard freestyle team took third with a time of 1:42.90. In the 400-yard freestyle relays, the girls team took first with a time of 3:55.97.
For the girls, in the 200-yard freestyle Lydia Hecht took first with a time of 2:06.72 and Lily Cordonnier took third with a time of 2:15.84. In the 200-yard IM, Ava Shardo took first with a time of 2:25.80. Carley Timmerman took second with a time of 2:44.18 and Paige Holzapfel took fourth with a time of 2:47.67. In the 100-yard butterfly, Salimah Shardo took first with a time of 1:06.36 and Cordonnier took second with a time of 1:06.44. In the 100-yard freestyle, Erin Frederick finished second with a time of 1:01.02 and Emma Meyer took fourth with a time of 1:02.94. In the 500-yard freestyle, Timmerman took third with a time of 6:38.64. In the 100-yard backstroke, Ava Shardo took first with a time of 1:02.19. Hecht took second with a time of 1:04.84 and Frederick took fourth with a time of 1:10.05. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Ella Porter took second with a time of 1:20.68 and Chloe Steinbrunner took third with a time of 1:24.85.
For the boys, Michael Menke took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:04.37. In the 50-yard freestyle, Dylan Dunn took second with a time of 24.50. In the 100-yard freestyle, Dunn took second with a time of 54.44. In the 500-yard freestyle, Patrick Mcglinch took third with a time of 7:03.88. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Menke took third with a time of 1:12.08.
