Auxiliary garage sale planned

MARIA STEIN — The Maria Stein Legion auxiliary Post 571 will be holding its annual garage sale March 13-15. The auxiliary held its first garage sale over 35 years ago and continues to try to help to meet the needs of the community through this fundraiser. Funds raised from the garage sale help to support local veterans along with community programs such as the Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs apples for education ,combined charities ,ASSURE community walk, Hospice, Rustic Hope, Mercer County council on aging, Goodwill, Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics, a babysitting clinic, socks for veterans, local families in need and assist in the planning and hosting of the Maria Stein country fest. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon, Friday. Friday also features a Buck a Bag and Half Price on large items. In the past, any unsold items have been donated to the Mercer County Council on Aging Goodwill, Rustic Hope, Darke County Lending Hands , Maria Stein Shrine, and Celina Choosing Life Pregnancy Center. All donations toward the garage sale aid the auxiliary in helping many veterans and those in areas that need assistance.

DC Genealogy meeting

GREENVILLE — Darke County Genealogy is having a meeting on Sunday, March 3, 2 p.m. at the Darke County Extension Office, 603 Wagner Ave., Greenville. This meeting is open to anyone who would like to come to it. The speaker will be Bill Stevens. He will be speaking on: Tales From the Darke Side – featuring unusual, weird, and amusing occurrences in Darke County, including some of the eccentric people living here. After his talk there will be refreshments and the business meeting.

FM BoE meeting

PITSBURG — The Franklin Monroe Board of Education will hold a Board of Education meeting in the Music Room (D111) at 8591 Oakes Road on Wednesday, March 13. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.

GHS Class of 1965

GREENVILLE — The Greenville High School Class of 1965 will meet for lunch on Wednesday March 13, 11:30 a.m., at the Moose Lodge, 1200 Sweitzer St., Greenville (across from Clark’s gas station), 937-548-8741. Spouses, guests and/or significant others are also invited, as well as members of other Greenville High School classes.

MVVM hosts Carpenter

Mary Jean Carpenter will be speaking at the Miami Valley Veterans Museum on Wednesday, March 6, 8:30 a.m. She is a therapist and owner of Journey 4 Self Mental Health Services and The Waiting Room Coffee House, and a mental health contractor and consultant for PKM Life Transitions. Her dedication to helping US sevicemen and women is recognized during Womens Month in March. Her topic will take the audience back to the terrorist attack on the Khobar Tower in Saudia Arabia in 1996. Nineteen U.S. Air Force service members lost their lives. The museum is located at 2245 South South County Road 25A, Troy.
