Arcanum wins close one over Bradford; high school baseball roundup

DARKE COUNTY — Here are the scores and stats from the high school baseball games from April 18.

Arcanum 2 (7-6, 4-1) vs Bradford 1 (6-4, 3-1)

The Trojans win a close one over the Railroaders. Sophomore Regan Christ drove in a run and pitched all seven innings for Arcanum. He had 10 strikeouts and allowed two hits. Senior Landon Wills had Bradford’s lone run. Senior Tucker Miller pitched all six innings and allowed two hits and had eight strikeouts. All three runs of the game were scored in the third inning. Arcanum will host Preble Shawnee on April 22 and then head to Twin Valley South on April 23 with both games starting at 5 p.m. Bradford will be at Troy Christian on April 22 at 5 p.m.

Franklin Monroe (4-6, 1-3)

The Jets fell to one of the top teams in the WOAC in Newton, 9-0. Sophomore Madex Skidmore had two hits for the Jets. Junior Josh Armstrong had a strikeout in four innings pitched. Franklin Monroe will be at Houston on April 22 and then at Tri-Village on April 23 with both games starting at 5 p.m.

Greenville (5-8, 3-7)

The Green Wave lost 3-0 to Tippecanoe at home. Freshman Titus Eberwein, junior Owen McGreevey and freshman Cole Oswalt each got a hit for Greenville. Junior Layne Hocker pitched all seven innings and had six strikeouts. Greenville will be at West Carrollton on April 22, host Eaton on April 23 and host West Carrollton on April 24 all starting at 5 p.m.

Tri-Village (3-5, 0-3)

The Patriots lost 6-1 at National Trail. Sophomore Jaiden Beam drove in the team’s lone run of the game. Junior Ayman Stephens and freshman Lucas Brown each had two strikeouts on the mound. The Patriots will host Milton Union on April 22, host Franklin Monroe on April 23 and head to Tri-County North on April 24. All three games have a 5 p.m. first pitch.

Versailles (9-3, 2-0)

The Tigers won 7-2 at Delphos St. John’s. The Tigers scored four runs in the second inning to gain the lead for good. Junior Ross Francis and senior Joel Gehret each had two RBI. Junior Chase Monnin had 10 strikeouts and allowed six hits in seven innings. Versailles will host Celina on April 22 and host Coldwater on April 23 with both games starting at 5 p.m.
