GREENVILLE — Greenville senior Evan Manix will spend his collegiate career at IU East and join the track and field program. Manix said after a visit over there, it was the place that felt most like home.

“It felt like home,” Manix said. “Going down there, which is a smaller campus, but a tight community down there, I just felt like I was home. After talking it over with my family, I feel like it was the right decision for me.”

Manix said after talking with the coaches at IU East, he plans to compete in the 100 meter dash, possibly the 200 meter dash and join the 4×100 meter relay team. He also said he could run the 60 meter dash during the indoor season. Manix also plans on doing the long jump and the triple jump.

Manix said he is excited to get down there and compete at all of the different meets. He also said he is looking forward to competing against his friend, Nolan Ellis, who is at Findlay University.

Manix is ready to add to the competitive spirit at IU East.

“I’m going to go down there and try to compete. Try to lead by example as soon as I get down there. Try to add some fire into the room as soon as I get down there,” Manix said.

While at IU East, Manix said he plans to major in secondary education with a focus in social studies. His plan is to be a middle school or high school and teach government type classes.
