Bowlers from Mississinawa Valley, Versailles win WOHSBC matches

UNION CITY – Teams from Mississinawa Valley and Versailles won West Ohio High School Bowling Conference matches in the first week of divisional play on Saturday at Woodcrest Lanes in Union City.

The Mississinawa Valley boys won 2,052-1,803 at its home alley against New Bremen. Joe Teeter led the Blackhawks with games of 175 and 180, Alex Longfellow had games of 155 and 156, Brandon White had two games of 132, Matt Slyder had games of 114 and 116, Dominic Rammel had a 138, and Andrew Reichard had an 87.

The Versailles boys beat Russia 2,281-1,895. Alex Groff led the Tigers with games of 159 and 180, Jacob Wenig had two games of 146, Brody Hyre had games of 165 and 123, Luke Shellhass had a 200, and Brandon Bradley had a 135.

The Ansonia boys lost 2,195-1,937 to St. Henry.

The Versailles boys improved to 2-1 with their win, the Mississinawa Valley boys improved to 1-2, and the Ansonia boys fell to 0-3.

The Versailles girls beat Minster 2,182-1,729. Makenzie Berning led the Lady Tigers with games of 150 and 180, Hannah Niekamp had games of 144 and 175, Olivia Bruening had games of 164 and 147, Morgan Heitkamp had a 183, and Maggie Hedrick had a game of 140.

The Ansonia girls lost 2,039-1,652 to Russia.

The Mississinawa Valley girls lost by two pins – 1,762-1,760 – to Fort Loramie. Tiffany Westfall led the Lady Hawks with games of 161 and 151, Spencer Warren had games of 136 and 154, Kayla Harris had games of 102 and 122, Audree Weimer had games of 96 and 115, Payton Reichard had a game of 97, and Tabitha Richards had a game of 81.

The Ansonia and Versailles girls are both 1-2 on the season while the Mississinawa Valley girls are 0-3.

Darke County’s WOHSBC girls bowling teams all are scheduled to return to action at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen. The Ansonia girls will face Fort Recovery, the Mississinawa Valley girls will face Coldwater and the Versailles girls will face Marion Local. The WOHSBC boys bowling teams have a bye week.
