GREENVILLE — The Darke County Chamber of Commerce welcomed Greenville’s newest eatery during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Monday at the Merchant House.
“The Darke County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are pleased to host a ribbon cutting for our newest member, the Merchant House,” said Darke County Chamber President Sharon Deschambeau. “It is our pleasure to introduce and welcome managing partners Cassie Lambright and her fiancé Chris Campbell and Cassie’s dad Randy Lambright and his wife George (Georgianne) as partners in the business. We welcome them and their staff to the Chamber family.”
Deschambeau extended her thanks to chamber partners and local organizations, saying, “The Merchant House worked hard to obtain the necessary permits and certificates with state and local entities in addition to renovating the space and opening the business. It takes many people and organizations to assist a new business and we would like to acknowledge our Chamber partners Amber Garrett of Main Street Greenville, Matt Staugler of the Darke County Visitors Bureau and Greenville Mayor Mike Bowers for their role in helping The Merchant House opening to become a reality. We can all celebrate when a new business opens in Darke County!”
“I know from personal experience that the Merchant House is already on the road to success,” she added. “There were no reservations available last week between Thursday and Saturday. Now that’s a good sign and take out is always a great option.”
Speaking to those assembled for the ceremony, managing partner Chris Campbell said, “We’re super excited to be here in Greenville. The downtown really grabbed our hearts.”
“Greenville is a great city,” he added. “The first time we came here we knew we wanted to be here. Everyone’s been very receptive to us. It’s been a blast.”
According to Cassie Lambert, the pizzas and sandwiches have been the most popular items on the menu ordered. The restaurant also has a full bar and serves a variety of other foods, including steak, barbecue, salmon and chicken.
The restaurant, housed in a building that dates to the 1870s, first opened its doors to customers April 12. It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
