



ASHLAND – Versailles High School alumnus Joe Brandt earned multiple wrestler of the week honors on Tuesday.
Brandt, a senior at Ashland University, was named the Super Region Two Wrestler of the Week by D2Wrestle.com and was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week.
Brandt is ranked No. 3 in the nation among NCAA Division II 197 pound wrestlers. The 2011 Versailles graduate is ranked behind No. 1 ranked Romero Cotton from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Ryan Beltz from Maryville University.
Last week Brandt beat No. 4 ranked Garrett Lineberger of Notre Dame College by a 3-1 decision. It was his 13th win of the season and the 99th of his collegiate career.
Brandt, the son of Tim and Jennifer Brand, is a three-time all-American for Ashland. He placed fifth in nationals as a junior and seventh in nationals as both a freshman and sophomore. He redshirted last year.
The Ashland Eagles will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Region II Duals in Hartsville, South Carolina, where Brandt will go for his 100th career win.
