

CENTERVILLE – Greenville’s Jada Garland qualified for the Division I girls golf district tournament by finishing ninth overall at sectionals on Wednesday at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace.
Garland shot a 41 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine for an 18-hole round of 87. The Lady Wave sophomore was one of four individuals to qualify for districts along with Wayne’s Heidi Weeks, who shot a 78; Beavercreek’s Sarah O’Conner, who shot an 89; and Stivers’ Loren Morland, who shot an 89. Tippecanoe’s Taylor Hudson also shot an 89 but lost in a playoff to O’Conner and Morland.
As a team Greenville finished 10th out of 13 teams with a score of 435. Greenville beat Piqua, who shot a 441; Troy, who shot a 463; and Vandalia-Butler, who shot a 468.
Centerville with a 296, Miamisburg with a 336, Northmont with a 386 and Oakwood with a 390 were the top four teams and each earned spots in the district tournament.
Individually for Greenville Garland led the way with her round of 87. Also for the Lady Wave, Saki Nakamura shot a 105 and finished 32nd overall, Kylie Beam finished 51st with a 118, Madelyn Breig finished 55th with a 125, and Makenzi Glancy finished 59th with a 128.
Garland now will compete in the district tournament on Tuesday at Glenview Golf Course in Cincinnati.
