Ansonia baseball team loses to Emmanuel Christian in OHSAA tournament

SPRINGFIELD – Emmanuel Christian run ruled Ansonia 10-0 in the first round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association baseball tournament on Monday.

Emmanuel Christian scored four runs in the first inning, one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth in the five-inning run rule.

The Lions had six hits and no errors while the Tigers had three hits and two errors.

Tyler Neal went 1-for-2 and stole a base for Ansonia. Keith Burk and Rygh Fortkamp also were 1-for-2. Ethan Fischer walked once.

Fortkamp was the losing pitcher as he pitched one inning, allowing two earned runs and two unearned runs on three hits, one walk and one strikeout. Kane Kimmel pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing four earned runs and two unearned runs on three hits, four walks, two hit batters and two strikeouts.
