PITSBURG – The Franklin Monroe Lady Jets defeated the Legacy Christian Lady Knights 3-0 in non-conference volleyball action on the Lady Jets home court.
“We have a good group of kids and they work hard,” said Franklin Monroe coach Angie Filbrun. “Have a lot of fun when they are out there and we are winning games.”
The Lady Jets were coming off a 3-1 Thursday night win over the Twin Valley South Lady Panthers.
“We won but it was a battle,” Filbrun said of the South win. “Their defense – they dug up everything. We would swing so hard and they would come up with it. They were tough to play against.”
The Lady Jets jumped out to a 13-5 first set lead before the visitors made a 15-12 run only to come up short in an opening set 25-20 loss and trail Franklin Monroe 1-0 after one.
Set No. 2 had the Lady Jets holding comfortable leads at 9-3 and 11-5 on their way to a double digit 25-14 second set win.
The third and final game saw Franklin Monroe jumping out to a 6-0 lead and push its advantage to 13-2 in taking the final set by a 25-12 score and earn the win in straight sets.
“They are so excited, working well together to become a good team,” Coach Filbrun stated. “We all work so well together.”
